Part One of the Series Here
Congratulations New Jersey! We are now exactly 1,800 days since that fateful Friday, April 15, 2011! Welcome PokerStars – March 21st 2016! It has been a long time.
New Jersey online poker players have not had much excitement in the last year. Player traffic and revenues have been consistent, but dormant. Sites have been populated by regulars looking for new challenges. The introduction of this new site will surely provide a needed shot in the arm.
Do not be surprised, however, to see an uptick of only +25%, no more. The soft launch has not exceeded the 500 maximum players at any time that we attempted to log in. The site is still limited to players’ ability to be located inside the physical borders of New Jersey.
Geo-location rules. Thankfully during the soft launch, the PokerStars software seems to have been constructed well. Few reported problems have resulted in connection issues that hampered the previous other sites for months.
PokerStars have kept the announced Launch Promotions to a minimum. Two Deposit promotional choices – one for the recreational player and one for the grinders. And for everyone, a $25,000 Free Roll with a $5,000 First Prize guaranteed on March 27th at 5:00 PM. As of 3:00 PM March 20th – over 1100 have signed up.
For the “Recs” – deposit $20 or more and receive a bonus package of $40 Cash, a $10 Spin & Go ticket (more on this below), and a ticket to a $5,000 free roll tournament.
For the “Grinders” – A 100% Match of the first Deposit up to $600 with an accelerated rake back and a $5,000 free roll ticket.
After a first day glitch of the bonuses not appearing, it seems to be running seamlessly. Communication and customer service from most reports have been operating most effectively. The “Go To” place for general information has been the Two Plus Two Official New Jersey Thread. Answers have been forthcoming and timely.
Although we think “PokerStars Dylan” is located in the UK, and a few of the promotion explanations still are ROW language, this is by far a refreshing change from past experience with other New Jersey sites.
In regards to depositing, the recommended options are Instant E-Checks (The same banks are not participating – Bank of America in particular); MasterCard, and the 7/11 option originally brought to the state by the defunct Ultimate Gaming site. Our preference is Instant E-Checks – easy on, easy off.
Other options include PokerStars Instant Online Banking, Neteller, Skrill, PokerStars Play+ Card, Resorts and Visa. At present PayPal is NOT an option, but may be available at a later time.
In all cases the minimum deposit is the same – $10. No option charges a Processing Fee. Each option has a different Maximum Deposit(s) and Maximum Amount(s). For High Rollers, Resorts Hotel & Casino, PokerStars NJ Partner, is the place to Deposit with up to $100,000 allowed over a 30 day period. For individual details see the site.
Cash outs are another story. PokerStars New Jersey at present offers:
“•Instant eChecks •NETELLER and Skrill
We apologize if our cash out policy seems restrictive. This is a regulatory requirement and is designed to protect our customers against fraud. It ensures that no one can profit from misuse of another’s account.”
Deposits as all of the other New Jersey sites are instantaneous and pose no problems. We will see the ease of cash outs in the future. Past experiences with the New Jersey current sites have been timely and regulated. You will see your cash.
In regards to the games offered, we were patently surprised that the software look and feel is equivalent with the ROW. Max Cash games are $10/$20 LHE; $5/$10 NLHE; $1/$2 Limit Stud; Limit Badugi; Limit Razz; Limit Stud H/L; PL 2-7 Triple Draw; PL Omaha H/L; Limit Omaha; Limit Omaha HL; Limit 2-7 Triple Draw; Limit 5-Card Draw; 8-Game; PL Omaha.
Zoom is not available at present.
Sit & Go’s include Max $500 NLHE/Hyper; $500 NLHE/Turbo; $500 PL Omaha/Hyper; $500 PL Omaha/Turbo – All HeadsUp; $200 NLHE/Turbo – 6 MAX
Spin & Go – The Poker Tournament Gambling Game. MAX BuyIn $10. Player beware. 3 player tournaments with
All in all it has been a painless soft launch, far surpassing in ease all the previous NJ online poker sites to introduce their programs. We look forward to PokerStars and your success in New Jersey online poker. See you at the tables!
