After three successful days of testing, the SugarHouse Casino in PA has officially launched its mobile sportsbook under the PlaySugarHouse brand. The occasion marks the first online sportsbook to launch in the state since wagering was legalized by the state.
Land-based retail sportsbooks first opened in November 2018 with the launch of the sportsbook at Hollywood Casino. It’s taken a bit longer for online sportsbetting to get off the ground in PA, but it’s finally here. The launch of the PlaySugarHouse mobile sportsbook is a big moment for sports bettors in the state as access is effectively opened up to anyone of legal age.
About the PlaySugarHouse PA Sportsbook
Having opened a successful online sportsbook in New Jersey, the SugarHouse mobile sportsbook is no stranger to online betting. EGR North America even named the platform the “Mobile Operator of the Year” in North America.”
Placing a bet at PlaySugarHouse Sportsbook is as easy as downloading the mobile app or signing in to the sportsbook’s website. Authorized bettors with a mobile device or computer can be anywhere in the state to place a wager. In addition to local residents being able to wager, visitors from out of state can also place bets at PlaySugarHouse, as long as they do so while physically located in Pennsylvania.
For now, sports bettors must use a computer or Android device in order to make bets. Due to a restriction on real money apps in the Google Play Store, bettors must download the PlaySugarHouse app from the sportsbooks’s website. Those using iOS mobile devices are not able to make bets at the moment.
Good timing for PlaySugarHouse launch
The opening of the PlaySugarHouse mobile sportsbook comes just in time for the NBA finals between the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors. The SugarHouse Online Sportsbook is marking the occasion with no-vig bets on the NBA Finals. Betting lines without a vig mean there is effectively no cost with making a bet. For example, spread betters placing wagers on the main betting lines will see bets at +100, a unique value opportunity for those make these wagers. These vig-free wagers are available throughout the NBA finals from 10 AM until tipoff on the day of the game.
PlaySugarHouse being the first to launch in Pennsylvania will undoubtedly give the sportsbook a leg up on the competition. But they can’t rest on their laurels, because waiting in the wings of the PlaySugarHouse sportsbook are imminent mobile sportsbook openings from Rush Interactive-owned Rivers Casino and Parx Casino sportsbooks.
Many, if not all, of the licensed PA sportsbooks will be ready to take bets on mobile sportsbooks before the start of the NFL season.
Next up for the SugarHouse Casino is an online gambling launch expected to be part of a coordinated launch for all PA online casinos that are ready to begin offering real money games.
