Unlike its North American cousin, the WSOPE enjoys a long break between completion and broadcast. That break comes to an end January 31st.
That’s the date ESPN2 is set to launch full coverage of the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe. This year marked the third installment of the export version of the WSOP, and ESPN is apparently pleased with the direction the event is taking, adding an additional two episodes to this year’s roster, which totals 10 hours of programming.
Coverage begins with two episodes covering the inaugural Caesars Cup, a tournament modeled after golf’s Ryder Cup, pitted Team Europe vs. Team Americas in a variety of individual and team-structured match ups. Participants included: Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Annette Obrestad, Peter Eastgate and Patrik Antoniu. That gets underway Sunday, Jan. 31, at 11 p.m. ET.
Below, the full schedule for the WSOPE on ESPN2:
Sun 1/31 11:00 PM
Mon 2/1 12:00 AM
Sun 2/7 10:00 PM
Sun 2/7 11:00 PM
Mon 2/8 12:00 AM
Sun 2/14 11:00 PM
Mon 2/15 12:00 AM
Mon 2/15 1:00 AM
Sun 2/28 9:00 PM
Sun 2/28 10:00 PM
All times eastern.
Returning to the host’s chairs will be Lon McEachern and Norman Chad. They’ll be joined by a woman you’re likely to see a lot more of this year: Kara Scott, who will be table-side.
Just think – when the WSOPE on ESPN2 comes to a close, we’ll only be 90 or so days away from the start of WSOP 2010.
