Dwan seeks his first bracelet, and other storylines to watch at the World Series of Poker on Sunday.

Bling for durrrr?
Tom Dwan is the chip leader in Event No. 11, $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, and it’s the best chance the internet cash-game phenom has had at winning a bracelet in his young career.

He had a slow start to the WSOP, failing to make any day twos before this event. But he’s making up for it in this tournament, which has 21 players left. While there is a bracelet winner in the mix (Jason Young), the rest of the field has to be worried about stopping one of the world’s best players in his best game.

Outside of the main event, the cashes in the World Series are small potatoes for Dwan, who routinely plays for six-figure pots in cash games at Full Tilt Poker, so you can be certain he’ll be playing for the win. Even though we’re sure he wouldn’t mind taking home the $614K first prize, the title of WSOP champion probably means a lot more to him.

And he has a lot of prop bets with his fellow pros on whether or not he’ll win a bracelet at this WSOP. Reports having him winning upwards of $2 million in props if he takes down his first bracelet.

Player of the year?
It’s not too early to start handicapping the field for PoY, and clearly Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has to be the early favorite.

After winning the $50K Players Championship and making the final table of the $10K stud championship, there’s certainly no one who has had a faster start for The Grinder.

It’s a pretty amazing run for Mizrachi, especially considering a story that came out right before the WSOP that he owes back taxes to the IRS, and his home was being foreclosed on. Almost $1.6 million in cashes later, things aren’t looking so bad for Mizrachi.

Also look out for Men “The Master” Nguyen, who terrorizes the non-no-limit hold’em events, and just took down the $10K stud title for his seventh bracelet. We’re certainly not going to bet against him going on a tear like Jeff Lissandro did last year, when he won three bracelets, all in seven-card events.

On tap for today
Two bracelets will be awarded today. In addition to the event Dwan is in, there will be a winner in Event No. 12, $1,500 Limit Hold’em.

Two events will continue but not reach a final table, including day 1B of Event No. 13, $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em.

One event starts today: Event No. 15, $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better World Championship.
