The World Series of Poker is set to start in Las Vegas, but the schedule for the WSOP Europe was also just released.
The tournament series will run from Sept. 14-28, with five events that award bracelets. It will be held at Casino at the Empire in London once again.
This is the fourth year for the WSOP Europe, and there will be one more bracelet awarded than in the last two years. The new event is a “high-roller” heads-up event, with a buy-in of £10,000.
The main event, with a buy-in of £10,000, will start on Sept. 23.
The main event, in its first three years, has been won by some big names in poker. The first was won by Annette Obrestad, who was just 18 at a time. Three years later, she’s making her debut at the Vegas WSOP, now that she’s 21. John Juanda, who has won three Vegas WSOP bracelets, won in 2008. Barry Shulman, CEO of CardPlayer Magazine, won last year. Oberstad won £1M in 2007, while the last two winners won just over £800K.
The Caesars Cup, a Europe vs. Americas team event, has been nixed from this year’s schedule.
