No bracelets, but five events play on at the World Series of Poker. That includes the latest $10K event, which Russian player Vladimir Shchemelev loves this year. Catch up with the events from Tuesday and early Wednesday at the WSOP.
Event No. 24: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em
The event played down to a final table, and with just 30 players entering the day, it didn’t take that long to get there.
The chip leader JD McNamara, has no major live cashes, and will try to win the top prize of just over half a million dollars.
Here are the chip counts, by seat:
Blake Kelso – 1,166,000
JD McNamara – 2,393,000
Thanh dat Tran – 2,311,000
Greg Pohler – 1,660,000
David Cai – 844,000
Michael Gross – 535,000
Denis Murphy – 789,999
Jeffrey Tebben – 466,000
John Tolbert – 925,000
Event No. 26: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em / Six Handed
About 90% of the remaining field of 156 players left on day two, as 15 players will return to play for a bracelet and the top prize of $630K today.
Justin “Boosted J” Smith is among the final 15. The last player of the day to bust was Daniel Negreanu, in 16th. Other busts of the day included Sorel Mizzi (25th), Chris “moorman1″ Moorman (53rd) and Annette Obrestad (126th).
Here are the top five in chips:
Steve Cowley, 1,279,000
Alexander Ivarsson, 1,050,000
Martins Adeniya, 823,000
Jeffrey Papola, 797,000
William Haydon, 776,000
Event No. 27: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better
The event moved into its second day, but it fell well short of making the final table, as the field was trimmed down to 23 players from 208.
Still in? Kevin “ImaLuckSac” MacPhee, who won the EPT Berlin stop earlier this year, and Brandon Cantu, a two-time bracelet winner. PTP member Chris Tryba is also in the mix.
Among the players who busted in day two were Dutch Boyd (28th), who recently won a bracelet, and Phil Ivey (52nd).
Here are the top players in chips:
Maxwell Troy, 430,000
Christopher George, 375,000
David Levi, 216,000
Karina Jett, 187,000
Allyn Marshall, 150,000
Event No. 28: $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha
In all, 596 players registered for day one of the event, creating a prize pool with $315K going to first place.
Only 105 players remain, including Richard Ashby and John “Tex” Barch, who both won a bracelet at this year’s WSOP, T.J. Cloutier and Joe Hachem, to name a few.
Event No. 29: $10,000 Limit Hold’em World Championship
Vladimir Shchemelev is at it again.
The Russian player, who has already made two final tables in $10K events at this WSOP, and finished in second in the $50K Players Championship, is unofficially in second place in chips after day one.
There are lots of big names with nice stacks, including Jeffrey Lisandro, Shaun Deeb, Phil Ivey, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Doyle Brunson and Tom Dwan, among others.
The tournament saw 171 players register, and first place will take home more than $400K.
