World Series of Poker 2009 – Photo Tour

RELATED ARTICLES
For every player at this year’s World Series of Poker, there are no doubt several hundred poker enthusiasts who are too young, too busy, too distant or (let’s be honest) too busto to make it to the Rio this year.
For those folks, and for those still planning a trip to the Rio who have yet to arrive, here’s a quick pictorial tour of what you can expect on a typical day at the World Series of Poker at the Rio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The below photos are from June 5th, 2009 and were taken in the mid-afternoon or so. We hope you enjoy the tour – it’s a quicker, cheaper way to do the WSOP that won’t result in nearly as much self-loathing when all is said and done.
Let’s get started…
Ahh, the parking lot at the back of the Rio, for the Rio Convention Center. Don’t worry, if you’re smart, you’ll valet, which will drop you off right in front of the misted walkway to the indoors.

But, if you choose the valet route, you will miss the stunning view of the Rio from the parking lot. Of course, the Rio is a large building and you can get the same stunning view of it for miles around, but I needed something to fill the walk.

Here’s where you’d be starting your stroll if you took a cab or valeted, or had some shuttle drop off. You can already hear snippets of bad beat stories from the smokers on the patio from this distance.

These cars have something to do with the WSOP. Player of the Year, I think.

It appears that Cardrunners has something to do with the WSOP this year.
Yup, they there are again, right above the primary entrance to the Rio convention center / aka the WSOP Poker Room.

Take a right hand turn and you’ll start a fairly lengthy (relative to the average walk for a typical poker player) stroll down to the main tournament area.

Here’s a stripper. You’ll pass plenty of them, and they will give you some card for some free drink or … ok, we didn’t really listen to what we were being given.
