Alexander Kostritsyn. The Russian should be a familiar name to both online poker fans and live poker enthusiasts alike.
For the online crowd, you’re no doubt familiar with Alexander Kostritsyn’s exploits on the high stakes virtual felts. While he does give a significant amount of action at mid stakes, and his primary game is generally considered to be in the range of 25/50 HU, Alexander Kostritsyn isn’t afraid to take shots at the higher stakes games on Full Tilt Poker. He’s sat in some of the biggest games online, and had some mixed results along the way, losing over a million from 2008-2009.
Alexander Kostritsyn also made online waves by successfully winning a prop bet where his challenge was to turn 1k into 100k within a week. He did so, primarily by binking the FTP $1k for a $89k payday.
The live poker fan may remember PostFlopAction as the man who defeated Eric Sidel for the title in the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event. For that win, Kostritsyn booked just under $1.5 million, so he can afford to drop a buy in or two online.
