Taking the Rake Back

Staff

“Take the Rake Back” should be a rallying cry for every online poker player. When it comes to playing poker online, you need the odds to be stacked in your favor. You need to be able read opponents–without being able to read a poker face–and know how to manage bets. The idea, of course, is to have more money at the end of the week than you did at the beginning. Rakeback is yet another tool you can use to help ensure that you’ll break above even.

Without rakeback you could lose a few hundred or a few thousand dollars every month. That could be the difference between turning a profit or ending up in the red. Put another way, taking the rake back will statistically improve your chances that you’ll turn a profit every month. It will not control how you play the game, but in pure dollars and cents, it can be a huge bonus to your bank account. Most poker players know they need to find any trick or tool that helps the statistical probability of winning.

Rake
was an unspoken, covert part of gambling-in brick and mortar poker rooms and casinos as well, not just online poker sites. The cat is out of the bag now and poker players are finally starting to realize that they’ve been charged for winning a pot! It made financial sense for brick and mortar casinos to charge rake on a pot because poker rooms are not nearly as lucrative in a land-based casino as an online poker room-i.e. there are far fewer poker players in Las Vegas than there are online.

Being that a huge number of poker players have flocked to online poker sites-people who wouldn’t necessarily play poker when visiting Vegas-there’s even less reason for casinos to take a substantial chunk through the rake. Getting rakeback is a way for poker players to storm the castle and get what they are owed. After all, if poker players are good enough to win a pot, they should be able to take it to the bank.

Now that rake is no longer a forbidden secret, there are ways for players to take the rake back. The percentage varies from around 25 to 60 percent, and sometimes more. If you don’t get some sort of percentage back on your rake, that’s lost money. Apply for a rakeback program and you’ll be ensured of getting rake back on every pot.
