What is the Merge Network? What Games Do They Have?

They started as the independent site Poker.com in 2006, and have consistently pushed growth while becoming a large poker network and always remaining US-friendly. Merge has seen by far the largest growth in size of anywhere in 2010. Estimates are that its traffic has doubled or tripled since Jazette Enterprises moved its skins which include well known brands Sportsbook.com and PlayersOnly, from the CakePoker Network to Merge Gaming Network in April. The best part may be that now traffic no longer dies down too much to play cash games in the late night hours, and much better traffic for SNGs and Tournaments.

Cash Games

No Limit Holdem has cash games running from 2c/4c up to $5/$10, and sometimes $25/$50, $50/$100. From 2c/4c all the way up to $2/$4 you should find all the tables and traffic you need. Higher then that and you will be playing short handed and getting tables going. Limit Holdem seems have keep a few tables at stakes from 2c/4c up to $3/$6. PLO (Pot Limit Omaha) keep a few tables running per stakes from 2c/4c up to $2/$4, with higher games occurring not as frequently. Omaha Hi/Lo runs a few tables from the 2c/4c to $1/$3 level. They also offer 7-Card Stud, Stud Hi/Lo, Razz, 5-Card Stud, Triple Draw, 5-Card Draw, Badugi or Mixed Games, although you are almost certainly starting the table on those games.

Players interested to learn and try some of the non-Holdem games can get great experience trying their hand at some of the 2c/4c or 5c/10c tables. This writer discovered a strong love and feel for the games of Razz and Triple Draw from trying mixed games, so never know until you sit down.

Tournaments & Sit N Go’s

Since the Jazette brands (Sportsbook.com, PlayersOnly, etc) joined Merge their tournament and Sit N Go traffic has also seen a huge increase. There are now a good selection of regular and Guaranteed multi-table tournaments for Holdem and Omaha. There is also good Sit N Go traffic at many levels for Holdem and Omaha.

Promotions and Bonuses

Sites on the Merge Network offer reload bonuses as often as any networks out there. Almost every other month, sometimes more often. They have great Monthly promos for regular play, that many times include cash prizes for low volume of play. These are always in addition to their well known VIP programs and Point Stores. Many months out of the year there are also Rake Races and/or Rake Chases from both the network and individual affiliates. Many times you can earn money in both.

Banking

This maybe one of their stronger areas. Most of the well known skins (Carbon, RPM, PDC, PokerNordica) all have the funds and payment processing controlled by the Merge Network, not the individual sites. There are some that use their own processing, mostly ones that also have sportsbooks.

They offer a selection of almost every US and European eWallet for use as well as credit cards and checks. For some time these have offered the most deposit and withdrawal methods of any poker network.

Sportsbook Poker deposit method

Sportsbook Poker bills itself as having the top credit card acceptance rates in the industry. Ewallet and wire options are also available.

Software

Merge uses some of the most advanced software out there, and has been cutting edge in this department since their inception. Aside from the wonderful game selection discussed above, there are tons of customizable account and table options. All tables are resizable and there is also a great Mini-mode. The Mini-Mode is especially useful for laptops with smaller screens and older computers that experience slowness.

This is a network on the rise with exponential growth in players, round the clock traffic and player promotions. Nowadays few networks are taking as good of care of their existing customers as sites on the Merge Network.

How Does Rabbit Hunting Work at Sportsbook.com Poker?

There are a few mainstays from the era of brick and mortar casinos that haven’t found their way to the online realms, and two of the biggest absences come from the lack of rabbit hunting being available to players, and the lack of the option to expose a single card, instead of your whole hand, when you have the option to show your hand. The people at Sportsbook.com have decided to help players get what they want in their online games, and have added both of these great options to their client.

To use the rabbit hunt option, first note that you can only rabbit hunt if you are the winner of the pot; if you lose, you cannot select the rabbit hunt option. Once the hand is complete, you will be shown an option as to whether or not you would like the remainder of the hand rabbited out for everyone to see; if you click yes, all remaining cards in the hand, flop to river, are revealed to the players at the table. There’s a little catch that comes along with this, however, that makes it a bit risky to use. If you choose to rabbit the hand out, your hole cards are shown to the table, as well! This means that, if you executed the perfect bluff, and get curious to see how the hand played out, everyone at the table will get to see your rags; be careful when choosing this as an option!

Exposing a card is less risky; all you do is choose one or both of your cards to show to your opponent when you win a hand without showdown or muck a losing hand. It can be a way to show your opponent, “Hey, I did have something there,” or “I was completely full of it!” It’s all up to you, but now you don’t have to reveal your full hand; you can keep them guessing as to what that over pesky card was.

How Does the Bad Beat Work at Sportsbook Poker?

When you play poker at a casino, and you take an epic bad beat, most of them offer some sort of jackpot for you to take solace in; usually an amount much bigger than what you lost in the hand. That’s why the advent of bad beat jackpots online are a neat addition to the online realm, and Sportsbook has added one to their poker room for players to use as well!

When playing at any of the bad eligible tables on the site, half a dollar is taken from every pot and added to the bad beat jackpot. Once a player loses a hand holding Quad 7’s or better, the bad beat jackpot is paid out to the players in the following ratios;

35% to the player with the losing hand
17.5% to the player with the winning hand
17.5% to all other players dealt into the hand.
20% to reseeding the jackpot
10% back to the house

This can result in some big scores for you if you happen to be at the table when one of these bad beats are hit; even players not involved in the hand tend to get nice paydays. A few notes; both hole cards have to be used in the hands for it to qualify; only using one of your hole cards is not allowed. 4 players have to be dealt into the hand, and the hand has to generate enough rake to take the jackpot rake. Finally, collusion is not allowed on the tables, so don’t tell players what you have or make any sort of soft play in hopes of hitting the bad beat jackpot; it’s a good way to get banned from the site, and it’s bad ethics, to boot.

SportsBook Poker VIP Program Overview

The VIP programs of many sites have exciting things to offer players, and Sportsbook.com is no exception. With the VIP Program that Sportsbook offers, however, you’ll find yourself turning those points into cash, and fast; much faster than at other sites that make you wait long periods of time to turn those points into anything worth any value.

With the VIP program at Sportsbook, it’s easy to figure out just how many points your rake is earning you. For every ten cents in rake or tournament fees that is taken from the pot, you earn a VIP point. There are no confusing calculations, no bonuses for the high volume players that make it hard to reach those peaks; you start out earning the same points as everyone else. Once you’ve earned 3,000 of those VIP points, you earn your green tier status; and now you can start trading those VIP points in for cash!

That’s right, after just 3,000 points, you can turn every 1,000 VIP points you earn into $10 in real money, up to a maximum of $50 for the green tier. There are still plenty of great items to choose from in the VIP store; but this is cash we’re talking about! How many sites let you spend your points for real cash this quickly once you’ve entered the site? Not only that, but the green tier also allows you to get reload bonuses every month; 100% up to $300. You can even use VIP points to buy into some of the big tournaments going on every day at Sportsbook.com. Points can be a hard thing to put a dollar amount on with some of the sites on the online casino circuit; not with Sportsbook.com, though.

We’re going to take a look at the middle two tiers in the program, Bronze and Silver, and look at what benefits they offer their players, players that play poker often enough to get into it, but aren’t pushing insane hours with their play; you’re still going to be receiving some exceptional perks for your play.

Bronze takes just 10,000 VIP points to reach, and offers the ability to cash out up to $100 a month of your VIP points for cash; that means when you reach the 10k marker, you can take all of those points and reward yourself with a cool $100 right there. You also get an increased reload bonus, of 100% up to $500, a $200 increase over the green tier. You get invited to a monthly $250 freeroll, exclusive to bronze members, and you still get to use those VIP points for tournament entries and in the VIP store.

Silver costs 50,000 VIP to join, but now the perks are getting amazing; you can exchange up to $250 worth of cash for your VIP points, the reload bonus is now 100% of up to $1,000, and the weekly freeroll tournaments are now $500. The amount of free money that the site is offering you at only its medium tier is insane; can you imagine what the big perks are for the top tiers? You’ll only find out if you play Sportsbook.com and see for yourself.

Just kidding.

So you want to see what the top feels like; reaching the elite peaks, playing poker nonstop, multiple tables, for days on end, to reach the pinnacle of status representation; the gold and platinum levels on Sportsbook.com. For some, reaching the top tiers of VIP status is a goal of pride. But, as you’ll see in the perks given to the most active players, pride can also be a source of great wealth and luxury, to boot.

If you’ve finally managed to reach the gold tier, you’ve earned up a whopping 150,000 tier points. Your first perk that you pick up is a doozy; you can now cash out up to $500 worth of your VIP points out. As soon as you hit the marker, you can take ⅓ of your points and turn it into a nice payday for yourself with a single click; all yours, no bonus to earn on that money at all. But there are still bonuses to earn; your reload bonus is now bigger than ever. You get a 200% bonus up to $500, meaning that for a $250 reload, you get $750 total, once you earn your bonus out. Your weekly freeroll? $1,000 in the pool. Free money is piling up everywhere at this tier; and it’s not even the biggest tier.

Welcome to the 300k club, platinum member. Take $1,000 of your VIP points, and convert them into cash if you like. Or, enjoy a 200% reload bonus of up to $1,000. $2,000 weekly freerolls with only fellow elite team members to play with you (meaning, very few people for a big prizepool) and the right to call yourself platinum material. Are you up to the challenge? Come to Sportsbook.com and find out, today.
