Starting today, PokerStars will be offering about $45 million in guaranteed prize pools over the next two weeks in this year’s Spring Championship of Online Poker.
The tournament series, in its second year, features three tiers of play: low, middle and high buy-ins. The tier system allows everyone to participate in SCOOP, no matter how big your bankroll is. The guaranteed money is up from $38 million last year, and the events are up from 22 in 2009 to 38 this year.
The series begins this Sunday and runs through May 16th. SCOOP includes just about every variation of poker that is commonly played, including hold’em, Omaha, stud, and mixed games.
Satellites are running for all levels of SCOOP, so you don’t even need the full buy-in to be a part of the series.
SCOOP begins on the final day of FTOPS XVI at Full Tilt, so it figures to be a busy day for online poker players. FTOPS’ main event guarantees $3 million in a $640 buy-in tournament. SCOOP’s mid-level main event guarantees $3 million in a $1,050 event. The “low” main event guarantees $1 million ($109 buy-in). The high main event guarantees $5 million ($10,300 buy-in).
