Overview
Professional Poker falls into the medium sized poker portal category. The site is updated frequently and focuses mainly on poker strategy articles, poker resource reviews, poker news and a few poker culture articles
Look
A well done site. The design doesn’t call much attention to itself, which in my book is a plus. The colors are soft, the navigation is clean and logical, and the content is readable. The site has a lot of ads, but they are handled about as well as can be expected for a poker content site. If every poker content site looked like this one, we’d be doing just fine.
Content Quantity / Quality
My one complaint about the site is that so much of the content is either available in several other places [especially the news, which just cuts and pastes press releases] or is a rehash of existing material. That said, the content is of generally good quality, with some fairly well known contributors pitching in player profiles and site reviews.
The strategy material is accurate but a bit thin in spots. It’s best used by someone who is newer to the game. The player profiles are well done but don’t seem to offer much new information. The book reviews are solid, and tech room reviews are generally accurate but there’s no indicator of when they were last updated.
Unique Pros / Cons
Nothing much on either side.
Bottom Line
Bookmark it and pass it along to your friends who are new to poker - they’ll appreciate it.
