Review of Poker Player’s Alliance .org

Overview
Poker Players Alliance is, at this point, the largest public movement focused on defending online poker. There is obviously a large lobbying prescense in Washington that speaks for the online gaming industry, but PPA is the first credible attempt I’ve seen to marshall the voices and resources of online poker players in the US. The site offers updates on current legislation, relevant headlines with legal implications for poker, summaries of gaming laws by state and a few tools for getting involved.

Look
A clean site with a clear interface and a pleasing design. The navigation makes sense and is easy to follow, the balance of the content is good, everything is easy to read and find - plus, no ads.

Content Quantity / Quality
The site isn’t there to provide in-depth legal analysis of relevant issues - it’s there to serve as a public clearhouse for related enws articles and the like. As a result, the site feels a bit thin at times - I’d like a bit more depth or discussion on the issues involved.

There seems to be a lack of recent content in mroe than a few sections, which gives the site a stale feel, and that’s a shame. The lack of testimonials also makes the site feel a bit ‘dead’ - I’d like to see all areas padded and updated on a regular basis.

The ‘Poker in Your State’ function provides links to relevant case law on gaming in whatever state you choose to view. Note that only judgements and case summaries are provided - there isn’t any additional analysis or context give, which makes these more interesting reads than a useful resource.

Unique Pros / Cons
The fact that this is a non-profit advocacy group means that you should give it a lot more leeway and be far mroe willing to lend your support than you might be for a regular website / community / poker service.

Bottom Line
If you live in the US and play poker online, there’s no good reason to not keep up with this site. Bookmark it and sign up for their list today.
