Review of Poker Pages Industry Index

RELATED ARTICLES
Poker Pages.com Industry Index gives you some figures and graphs that show whether tournament poker is growing or declining, and how fast. You can take a quick look at the big picture, or look deeper into details, such as how many people are buying in, or how much money people bought in for over the last 12 months. Look
The design is pretty and functional, and the user interface is intuitive. There’s not really anything to complain about. There is only one banner ad at the top each page, and it’s unobtrusive.
Content Quality / Quality
Well, I can’t say I’m in a position to evaluate the completeness or accuracy of the information. They do say they have tracked $1 billion in buy-ins since 2000, which sounds pretty impressive. It is unfortunate that they have no data for cash games, although of course such data is much harder to collect because cash games are not so organized the way tournaments are.
Unique Pros / Cons
I’m not aware of any similar services, so it’s hard to make comparisons. The only real problem with this site is that the index isn’t updated all that frequently in today’s fast-paced world, but that’s understandable, especially with the time it can take to gather and process the data. Again, it also includes only data from tournaments, not cash games.
Bottom Line
If you’re curious about this sort of thing, why not take a look? After all, it’s free. But without data on cash games, I don’t feel that it fully represents poker — but it’s still good for what it is.
