Poker Fish Tracker offers a growing list of weak no limit players at various online rooms, including Party, Stars Titan, Noble, Paradise and Full Tilt. As of the writing of this review, they had about 300 players in their Fish Index [the site is regularly updated so I expect that number to grow rapidly. The Fish List is divided up by room. and each room's list gives you the screen name of a fish, their 'fish rank', the limit they typically play, and a brief taxonomy of their weakness [e.g. loose, loose+, calling station, calling station+, and so on].
PFT also has a forum for discussing players on these lists, offers brief reviews of the sites in the Fish List, and sponsors some freerolls that you can get in by joining their forums, along with a small selection of strategy / instructional resources.
Look
Nice, logical design and navigation. The amount of text gets overwhelming on some pages, but it’s manageable overall. The color scheme is well-selected [altho I'm obviously partial to blue
]. A decent amount of ads but they aren’t obtrusive. I’d be perfectly happy if this was a loose model for all poker content sites.
Content Quantity / Quality
The forums are new, but growing – the forum software is a bit generic but serviceable. The strategy offerings are a bit familiar, but helpful nonetheless.
The real content of the site, the Fish List, is a work in progress. There’s obviously a balance the site is trying to strike between quantity [number of fish] and quality [depth of information about each one]. Too much of either makes the list useless. I’d like to see slightly more depth about each player, but given the inherent turnover in fish, I understand their focus on brief descriptions. I would like to know more about how they view NL so that I can put their Fish assessments in context – one player’s maniac is another player’s role model.
Unique Pros / Cons
The concept itself is a unique pro, and the fact that the page is being constantly updated and improved is nice as well. I can see this growing into a popular stop for lower-limit NL players.
Bottom Line
Needs more updating and quantification to really be effective.
