Some big developments as we hit midweek in the pokerverse, with happenings on the legal, industry, tournament and cultural fronts.
Most of the chatter online today still revolves around UB’s signing of Joe Sebok. Sebok has been taking a beating for the move over at 2+2; we say that we wouldn’t be surprised if many posting negatively in that thread drop some rake at UB from time to time. Sebok’s intentions seem good, and having him over at UB is probably for the best for all involved.
In less controversial signing news, Doyle’s Room announced today that they’ve signed Chris Moorman to rep the room. Moorman is the fourth player of the The Brunson 10 to be announced so far.
Lots of WSOP news floating around today. If you missed last night’s WSOP episodes on ESPN, there’s a great recap over at Tao of Poker you should check out. Also, Hellmuth reported (and Shulman confirmed) that Phil will be Shulman’s coach for the WSOP final table.
If you’re more into WSOPE for some reason, Wicked Chops has a nice round up of the gossip (highlights: no high stakes action, durrrrr has a girlfriend, Boeree has a boyfriend) coming out of the WSOP across the pond.
On the legal side of things, the PPA is splitting focus and putting more attention on the states. Specifically, the lobbying organization is seeking to get referendums regulating online poker on the ballot in as many states as possible while simultaneously pushing for a federal solution to the online poker question.
