News on HSP Season 6, WSOP updates and new training sites – it’s the PTP News Hit and Run for October 14th, 2009.
Just a few days after AJ Benza confirmed he won’t be returning, more news on High Stakes Poker Season 6. Peter Eastgate and Dennis Phillips have both confirmed they’ve been asked to participate, and Phillips let it slip that PokerStars will be sponsoring the show, adding more weight to the rumors that Vanessa Russo will be taking on Benza’s former co-hosting duties.
From poker TV future to poker TV present: ESPN aired another set of episodes of their WSOP coverage last night, and as the field gets smaller, the drama keeps building. Watch it for yourself over at PokerTube, or read Dr. Pauly’s excellent recap here.
Speaking of the WSOP, Phil Hellmuth had a few words in his blog about his coaching sessions with November Nine 2009 member Jeff Shulman here. If you’re interested to learn more about what it’s like to be prepared for the biggest tournament of your life by Hellmuth, you’ll apparently be able to read about it the New York Times at some point in the near future.
No word on whether or not Phil will be attending the Caesars Palace Classic out in Vegas, which kicks off today. Schedule and coverage at CardPlayer here.
Finally, two new (very beta) entries into the world of online poker training today. Bodog stuck a toe in the waters with their new basic strategy videos, and the Mike Matusow-backed Deep Stacks University is finally getting under way following months of promotion on WSOP.com.
