Isildur1 drops a million, Darvin Moon in the news, and a crazy Russian breaks a crazy poker record. Have a heaping helping of PTPN’s Hit and Run this Thanksgiving.
Isildur1’s bankroll took a sizable hit, dropping more than a million to CardRunners’ Brian Townsend at Full Tilt’s high stakes tables. Interestingly, this took place at the (relatively) low limits of $200-$400 pot-limit Omaha, instead of the $500-$1,000 games Isildur1 frequents. According to highstakesdb.com, Isildur1’s bankroll stands at just over a million dollars on tracked cash-game play for the year. Side note: Patrick Antonius is closing in on $10 million in profit for the year.
If you want some Thanksgiving-based poker news, here’s a roundup of what some poker personalities are known to be up to for the holidays over at pokernewsdaily.com.
In Darvin Moon-related news, here’s a feature on what everyone’s favorite logger from this year’s WSOP main event has been up to since his second-place finish. And Moon will also be featured on Monday Night Football for the Saints-Patriot game — Moon wore a Saints hat on television instead of wearing a sponsor’s hat at the final table.
Last week we reported on Shaun Deeb saying he was going to retire from playing tournaments. That news coming from one of the top online MTT players around was a bit of shock. Here’s some fallout/opinions from his announcement.
Florida has been at least considering the idea of legalizing and taxing poker in the state, after this report was released. No action is expected in the immediate future, but the study shows legalization is on the table. More on the effort here.
Poland has apparently limited poker to only being played in actual casinos, which seems to be bad news for home games and online poker in the country. Poland is the latest country in the European Union to do something that in some way stunts the free market in online gaming. The EU has not been a big fan of countries that do not allow online gambling to operate freely across borders in the past, so their reaction will be interesting.
The U.S. Poker Championship main event crowned a champion (yeah, we didn’t know that was going on, either). William Brindise took home top prize of just over a quarter of a million dollars, beating Men “the Master” Nguyen in heads-up play.
Did you know that anyone kept records on the most hands played in a single day? Apparently, PokerStars does. Some crazy Russian (named “innerpsy”) played more than 40,000 hands in 24 hours, which is a record, according to PS. And thousands watched via live video stream.
Do you want to set a crazy record too? If you’re going to try, you should do it with rakeback. Learn all about rakeback and where you can get it here.
