Durrrr playing live, the future of WPT and PartyPoker, and Cada is everywhere. Check it out in today’s PTPN Hit and Run.
The live “durrrr Challenge” continued, and still not much in the way of fireworks. In the challenge, Tom Dwan is taking opponents in heads up matches where opponents must put 500k on the table and play Dwan at either PLO or NLHE with blinds of $500/$1000. Opponents can’t exit the match until at least 500 hands have been played or they go busto. He played Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and won about $70K.
Speaking of Ziigmund, he just took on Isildur1, and lost about a million dolllars. The as-of-yet-unnamed Swedish player taking the high-stakes world by storm also logged sessions with Dwan, Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius, among others. And in case you didn’t see it, a very interesting blog post from Haseeb “Dogishead” Qureshi over at cardrunners.com detailing the rise of Isildur1.
If you’re interested in the future of the World Poker Tour after its acquisition by PartyGaming, check out this story over at pokernews.com. It seems like there will be few changes in the short term. Most interesting from the story is PartyGaming’s chief marketing officer saying this does signal Party’s desire to work its way back into the U.S. market in the future, and continue to push the subscription-based Club WPT.
WSOP main event champ Joe Cada continues making the rounds in the media. Or in this case the talk-show circuit. Here he is on David Letterman:
The Poker Players Alliance got a little mainstream notice on the Web site of “The Hill,” a newspaper following the U.S. Congress. They did an article on the PPA’s “Tweet for Poker” campaign. You can check out the actual campaign here. The campaign helps poker players to use Twitter to get in touch with their representatives about their support of online poker legislation, and the repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
