A departure from Cardrunners, a crazy tattoo prop bet from the L.A. Poker Classic, and Joanna Krupa and Dario Minieri weigh in from the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Check it out in today’s PTPN Hit and Run.
The new year has been a good time for poker players to cut ties with affiliations. First it was Justin Bonomo leaving bodog, now it’s Dusty “Leatherass” Schmidt leaving poker training Web site Stoxpoker.com/Cardrunners. You can read his blog here. Not much about why it happened: “I will admit I never really thought this day would come, but due to irreconcilable differences with Stoxpoker/Cardrunners, I am resigning as a lead coach. ” More here from pokernewsdaily.com.
There’s been some great prop bets in the history of poker, but this is a pretty great one. Joe Sebok, Gavin Smith and Jeff Madsen have made a last longer bet with each other for the L.A. Poker Classic in February. Whoever busts first will have to get the other two players’ faces tattooed on their body. We’re sure the ladies will love that one. Second place gets the winner’s face only in ink. Read about it at pokerroad.com.
Interesting column at pokernews.com, where two writers debate whether online players should be able to change their IDs. Currently, Cake Poker allows players to continually change their names. The amount of data available online associated with each person’s account name is an argument for both sides. Some feel you should be able to use that as part of your game, others think people should be able to change their IDs so the data is rendered meaningless.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the scarfed one, Dario Minieri. He has a healthy stack in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event right now. And even though he’s in the Bahamas, he’s still wearing a scarf.
More from the PCA, where Eric Froehlich talks about a hand where he got Donald Negreanu to lay down a set of 10s in the main event. Daniel blogs about it here, and he doesn’t feel bad about the fold, even though he saw the interview with Froehlich.
Recently, we reported that PokerStars is launching the North American Poker Tour, which will be hosted by the lovely Joanna Krupa. Interview with her follows.
The 2010 World Series of Poker schedule was recently announced, and here’s a critique of the schedule over at pokernewsdaily.com. It points out some of the good and some of the bad, and offers some advice if you are planning on playing in this year’s WSOP.
Bad weather in London apparently means more people play online poker. Betfair and William Hill have reported big surges in play with cold temperatures and snow hitting the U.K. Read about it here.
It doesn’t matter what the weather is like, there’s always a ton of players at Full Tilt Poker. Sign up with rakeback today and start playing.
