Online poker player Dusty Schmidt haas been getting some internet buzz for his “Playing it Forward” drive, where he played poker for charity for 30 hours in Portland. Story here at The Oregonian’s Web site. In all he made $21,000 for an agency that helps homeless people find housing. Below is a video of him during the charity drive, playing outside in the rain. All has been quiet on the possible legalization of online poker in the United States. But here’s a story from the Fort Worth (Texas) Star Telegram that kind of recaps where we’re at. We were less than enthused when we started reading the story, and it leads with a “Jeremy Jones” who is pretty sure the online poker is rigged. Good luck with that, Jeremy.
Cool story here on a guy who collects poker chips. Richard Jiminez limits himself to poker chips from the state of Idaho. He has hundreds of different types of chips, and he values his collection at $30,000. Apparently, in the first half of the 20th century, all sorts of establishments put on poker games in Idaho. Who knew?
