Kentucky domain updates, the PCA rolls on and UB teams up with the NHL. Those buts and other bytes in our daily recap of all that’s happening in the pokerverse – the PTP HNR for 1/12/10.
Observers expect that the Kentucky Supreme Court will hand down its ruling on the Commonwealth’s attempt to seize over 140 gambling-related domains on January 21st, the date that the Court is scheduled to release their next batch of decisions. Most analysts seem to feel that the court will come down on the side of the defendants and deny the Commonwealth’s appeal.
The PCA rolls on; with the Main Event in the books (congrats and $2.2 million go to Harrison Gimbel) the High Rollers event is the next major stage for players. Catch live coverage at the PS Blog here. Interview with Gimbel:
Speaking of the PCA, here’s a pretty funny video from the tournament:
Ultimate Bet made some news this week with the announcement that the room has signed a sponsorship deal with an NHL team. Sure, it’s a Canadian one, but still – mainstream is mainstream.
More on the mainstream: Kiplinger’s has a series of poker-themed articles running in their recent edition. Check out How Poker Can Make You a Better Investor here; credit to Pokerati for the link.
A bit from the fringe: Pauly’s got a writeup (including links to some decidedly NSFW photos) of his ongoing coverage from this year’s AVN AEE.
Finally, David Carruthers (former BetOnSports head) was sentenced to 33 months in jail for his part in operating the sportsbook, and Adam Altwies took some time to talk to PND about what it’s like to be the poker room manager at Aria.
Aria’s a pretty sweet room, and you could earn a stay there, plus your airfare, plus cash to play with in our 2010 Rake Challenge. Get all the details here.
