We’re pretty sure notorious gambler/famous poker player Phil Ivey made a bet on the Super Bowl. He loves the sports books, especially for the big events. The only question? How much did he bet, and on who? Story here on how it’s rumored that Ivey, in collaboration with a sports bettor, put $2 million down, apparently on the Colts for the money line of -$200. Earlier we reported that Doyle Brunson was likely taking some time off until the World Series of Poker. He’s got a blog entry up, talking a little about why. He writes: “The competition has gotten so good you need to feel good physically as well as mentally to have a chance to win. My gut feeling is just chill out until the WSOP and try to have a big series. Could it be my age is finally catching up to me?”

The North American Poker Tour’s stop at the Venetian in Las Vegas already has a lot of buzz, and one event in particular has the poker world excited. PokerStars and the event recently announced the addition of a $25,000 high-roller event. The high buy-in is sure to attract some of poker’s top names. And some other aspects that make it interesting. It’s a shootout event, so you need to win your table to advance. There’s also a $5,000 bounty on every player’s head, and the player collecting the most bounties will win $100,000 added in by Stars.

Apparently, Trishelle Cannatella can play poker. The Absolute Poker celebrity/reality TV show star won the “Trash Talk Championship” at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The $1,000 buy-in event was a charity tourney.

In the latest attempt by an online poker site to capitalize on mixed martial arts’ audience of young males, UB.com is partnering with the Bellator Fighting Championships. The MMA promotion is set to be broadcast on NBC and Fox SportsNet, which will give UltimateBet some great exposure.
