The scoop on SCOOP, and Isildur1 playing again? Check it out in today’s PTPN Hit and Run.
PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker should be out soon, according to some homework done over at poker-king.com. Last year’s SCOOP, which started in April, was released in mid-February. This year, SCOOP is supposed to start on May 3. More details here. We’ll let you know when we know more.
High-stakes phenom Isildur1 has largley been absent from Full Tilt’s tables, but the gossip machine that is the internet has been saying that he’s back, playing on Betfair as “omlphalotus.” He’s sitting with huge amounts of money, he’s Swedish, and people love to speculate about Isildur1. We’ll let you know if anything exciting develops. We did learn that the name is a type of mushroom (misspelled):
Phil Hellmuth working on the mental/emotional side of his game? Say it ain’t so. Pokernews.com reports that “poker mindset” coach Sam Chauhan is going to work with the Poker Brat on his famous tilting. Chauhan has already worked with pros Antonio Esfandiari and Josh Arieh, among others. And here’s a story about it, as well.
U.S. President Barack Obama has been catching heat from gambling sectors — most notably Las Vegas interests — for some recent comments. Most notably: “You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.” Story here. Understandably, Vegas is less than thrilled with Obama’s take. A fellow Democrat, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, had this to say: “The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn’t be spending their money.”
The World Series of Poker main event coverage starts on the 7th, story about it here, and a link to a PTP story, with a full broadcast schedule.
We really think there’s not enough analysis of who is hot in poker, and why, outside of wickedchopspoker, which does an excellent job on the topic. But we do like a fresh take now and then. Here’s one from gambling911.com, where Erica Schoenberg’s assets are weighed. We are a bit wary, however — the same writer called Hellmuth sexy. Here’s Erica shooting some guns.
And in more intellectual news about women poker players, a story at PokerStars’ Web site highlights some of the solid poker women have been playing of late.
All the hot women play at Full Tilt Poker. Well, not really. But you can get rakeback if you sign up today.
