Obama is playing poker with health-care reform? And behind the scenes at Poker After Dark. We’re here to console you if you got coal in your stocking. It’s PTPN’s Hit and Run.

Seeing as online gambling and poker legilslation in the United States is still on the periphery of the national consciousness (even though the drive for regulation and legalization is picking up steam), it sure is weird how concerned people are with President Barack Obama’s poker game. The National Journal, a D.C. publication, published a cover story about his poker game and how it related to his presidency. Now, a blog at another D.C. publication, The Hill, analyzes the health-care debate through the lens of his poker game. Read it here. In the post, Obama is accused of drawing at an inside straight, presumably without pot odds. For shame. Fold preflop next time, obviously.

Earlier we shared a story where Tom Dwan discussed some big hands from his appearance on NBC’s Poker After Dark’s “Rail Heaven.” Now you can check out some comments from his session with Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Phil Hellmuth, Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey here.

Looking for some more good year-in-review stuff covering the world of poker? We thought you might. Here’s cardplayer.com’s top 10 stories of the year — the first five here and the second five here. Phil Ivey’s ridiculous run at the World Series of Poker (two bracelets, and the main event final table) topped the list.

Seeing as it’s the day after Christmas, and yet another slow news day for poker, check out this video from cardplayer.com, where you can find out what some pros are listening to at the tables. We didn’t know that it was mandatory to wear noise-reducing headphones in order to play poker these days.

If your gifts all sucked, at least you can still get rakeback. Make a new account at Full Tilt Poker today and get rakeback.
