2+2 is suing, and poker players weigh in on Tiger. We’re driving for show, putting for dough in today’s PTPN Hit and Run.
Poker forum 2+2 is attempting to sue for trademark infringement. Story here in the Las Vegas Sun. Named in the suits, a Web site called jacknames.com and Dutch Boyd. According to the story, jacknames.com “registered a domain name using the phrase “Two Plus Two” and the word “poker;” and linked the domain name to a poker strategy and gaming services Web site.”
We’re not sure why anyone would care what the poker community has to say about the Tiger Woods scandal, but that doesn’t stop there from being a story about it. If you’re interested, check it out here. A couple of zingers from Doyle Brunson on his Twitter feed here.
We told you about a story scheduled to air on CNBC on “illegal online gambling” yesterday. Here’s a clip from the program that will air on Dec. 16 at 9 p.m.
Joey Ingram, who set the record for most hands played in a 24-hour period with more than 50,000 hands, spoke to pokernewsdaily.com here. Here he talks about how he managed to make more than $30,000 in prop bets: “I managed to get all of this action because I played a 25,000 hand session, I was down, and people saw that on Poker Table Ratings. My profile also showed that I had lost 20+ buy-ins in a session in the past. Since I had that history, people were just lining up to give me action.”
Here’s an interview with some comments from the Poker Players Alliance in the way of a House of Representatives committee hearing on the regulation of online gambling and poker. Executive director John Pappas: ““The record that was set was very favorable to licensing and regulation, and several of the witnesses were extremely effective in conveying the message to lawmakers why this would be the most appropriate step to protect minors, problem gamblers and consumers from risks such as money laundering, fraud and abuse. So we were very encouraged.”
Another column about the high-stakes world at Full Tilt here (you can read part 1, here). The newer column says while the big games at FTP create a lot of interest, the raising of stakes has dried up the action (at least when Isildur1 isn’t around). Interesting take.
Phil Hellmuth is promoting his “Tour Across America,” which apparently only has four stops, and two of them are in Oregon. Details here. You can play a tournament with the “Poker Brat” if you sign up. There’s a $3,000 package where you get a dinner with him too. We can think of better things to spend $3,000 on.
