With tens of thousands of dollars worth of action sold for the Spring Championship of Online Poker at Poker Stars, our staking forums promised to provide raucous rails when a PTP member went deep in any of the 22 events that made up the inaugural run of the SCOOP. Rail – and profit – they did, as PTP members combined for hundreds of thousands in cashes, multiple final tables and two outright SCOOP titles.
While it’s hard to pick one accomplishment that stands out from the rest, you certainly have to be impressed by TurnRiva, who managed dual final tables, taking home 19.7k in a four-way chop of SCOOP 12 M ($215 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo) and 25k for his 5th place finish in SCOOP 7 M ($1050 H.O.R.S.E.).
Turn wasn’t alone in his final table double dipping – AJB444 clocked in with two final tables as well, chopping SCOOP 13 L ($22 Razz) for nearly 8k, and bringing home the first ever PTP SCOOP championship title – and 20k+ – for a win in Event 18 L ($55 limit O8), taking down Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi in a HU battle for the victory.
PTP’s success in non holdem games continued with indariva banking 23k for his 3rd place finish in SCOOP 16 H ($3150 7-Card Stud) and D.Scroggins scoring a 4th in SCOOP 19 L ($55 PLO) for just about 9.5k. Justin58 capped it off with a 4th place finish in SCOOP 6 M (PLO 6 max) that returned over 25k.
Event 17 L ($22 1r 1 NLHE) saw some PTP on PTP violence at the final table, as BrandonPL and DazzleO both came into final table play wit a shot at the title. DazzleO exited in 5th with a healthy payday of 18.5k for his efforts, but Brandon battled on, eventually securing a HU chop and a second place finish for $52k+.
PTP members fared well in other NLHE events as well. allofit29 hit the final table of SCOOP 17 M ($215 1R 1A NLHE), and while he didn’t take, ahem, all of it, he did take 30k+ for his 6th place finish. Charder30 did his name three thousand and some better by cashing for $33k+ after his 5th place finish in SCOOP 14 M ($530 NLHE).
But the best, as it often is, was saved for last, with Jaeh00d pulling out a massive win in SCOOP 19 M ($530 PLO) for $61474 and the second SCOOP title in PTP history.
Congrats to all those mentioned, along with the dozens of other PTPers who cashed in various SCOOP events too numerous to name. The inaugural SCOOP was a massive success for both players an investors alike, with a wide array of horses getting the backing to step up to a new level of tournament play and multiple investors being rewarded with healthy scores for their efforts. Next up: the WSOP, where PTPers look to improve on their performance of three final tables in 2008.
