A $250K tournament, UB’s commercial fail, and an interview with Tom “durrrr” Dwan. It’s all in the weekend edition of the PTP Hit and Run.
WSOP ratings down: Viewership of the World Series of Poker coverage on ESPN is down 16%. Story here. ESPN probably isn’t too stoked, seeing as they are in the middle of a lengthy contract with the WSOP that they extended not too long ago.
$250K tournament?: Who doesn’t have a quarter of a million sitting around to play in a poker tournament? Well, not us. Lots of ballers will be entering this tournament, with a $250K buy-in and a $5 million top prize. It’s set for Monte Carlo in November. Among the rumored early commitments are a lot of the usual suspects: Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, et al.
LOL at UB:UB.com has produced some commercials that parody the well-known style of Full Tilt’s pretty good commercials. But we have to agree with pokerkingblog.com, that they fail and are dumb. They have look alikes of a bunch of FTP pros, which must have taken a lot of effort to put together. You can watch one of them below.
WPT winner: A champion has been crowned in the World Poker Tour event in London. Jake Cody won about $422K for first place. Combined with a European Poker Tour victory earlier in the year, he’s won more than a million in 2010.
Rewind that: In this week’s edition of Rewind, where we look back at some of the best poker-related videos on the interwebz this week, there’s an interview with Tom Dwan and a look inside the office/poker-playing room of Tony “bond18″ Dunst. Read here. If you just want to watch the Dwan interview, from pokerstatic.com, we included that below:
WCOOP under way: The World Championship of Online Poker started today at PokerStars. For a preview/schedule/more information on the tournament series with $50 million guaranteed, read here. And Team PokerStars Pro J.P. Kelly has some WCOOP advice for players…namely that exercise and sleep are key for success. We’re guessing there’s not a lot of serious online poker players that get a ton of either. And why does the WCOOP deposit bonus suck this year? Read more on that here.
