What are the top online tournament and cash-game players up to? And Team PokerStars Pro takes a beating in All Star Week. Read all about it in the weekend edition of PTP’s Hit and Run.
Online ballers: The latest standing are out at BLUFF for the online player of the year race. Read their story here. On top right now is Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen. The rankings have gotten shuffled a bit as some top online players have spent a lot of time and energy in Vegas playing the World Series of Poker.
Stakes are high: What’s going on over at Full Tilt’s high-stakes tables? Harrington25, after leading all losers a week ago, was on top of the profit leaderboards last week with more than $300K in net profit. Harrington25’s graph:
Patrik Antonius had a good week too, right behind harrington25. Tom “durrrr” Dwan was one of the players who had a down week.
Team PokerStars PRO, you say?: All-Star Week still had a day to go, but the challengers didn’t need the final day to defeat the PokerStars pros in a series of 35 heads-up matches played this week. Read about how the top non-sponsored players at PS beat up on the “real” pros here. Challengers were up 21-9 before Sundays five matches.
Winner, winner, Italian dinner: Filippo Candio is the only remaining European player left in the WSOP main event. You can check out an interview with the November Niner here:
Calling ESPN’s graphics department: An item over at BLUFF Europe takes exception with ESPN’s coverage of the World Series of Poker, which just started last Tuesday. New this year are “positional references.” The only problem? They’re doing it wrong, calling the button and the blinds “late position,” not including the hijack and the cutoff. We guess they need to play more online poker.
Sushi anyone?: 2007 main event champ Jerry Yang has a lot of money, we all know. Last year, he decided to spend some of that cash on a sushi bar. A year later things seem to be going well for his endeavor into raw fish. Story here.
Lee Jones says don’t slowroll: Lee Jones penned an article over at pokernews.com that talks about why you shouldn’t slowroll your opponents. Check it out here. An excerpt: “If, however, he sees trash talking and berating of opponents, if he sees the typical Hellmuthian tantrums and Tony G insults, he may start to suspect that the Focus on Family view of poker is the accurate one. Slow-rolling is just another form of standing over the quarterback you just sacked and gloating about it.”
Tweet tweet: BLUFF has kept up with top tweets after the WSOP, they’re obviously just not as frequent anymore. Anyway, here’s the latest edition. Our fav: @adamjunglen (Adam Junglen): Going to play a home game with all my friends from high school. Busto status obv =)
