More people, but less money at a WPT event. And Tony G is owning souls, according to him. It’s all in the weekend edition of the PTP Hit and Run.
Up and down for WPT: The World Poker Tour’s Legends of Poker is under way at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. The good news? There were 462 players, which is up from 279 last year. However, a lot of that is because the buy-in was cut to $5K from $10K. That means the prize pool actually went down year over year. Story here. You can get live updates from the WPT website.
Tony G is a surgeon: Well, not really. In his own mind, at least, he is the best poker player on the planet. His recent blog post talks about his appearance on PokerStars’ “The Big Game.” Here’s some of his post: “I cannot give any results away but let’s just say Hellmuth was on my table, I destroyed him. Negreanu the bike thief? Bike time! This will be a great show. I cannot wait until it’s shown on television, I think it will be my best show ever. I dispatched every super pro ruthlessly – first I removed their soul, followed by their hearts and then their spinal columns! Finally, of course, I took their money!” I guess we’ll wait to se what happened.
High rollin: We don’t know who Perica Bukara is, but he apparently had $25K to enter the Full Tilt Poker Merit Cyprus Classic High Roller Freeze-Out. Not only that, but he won the event of 36 players and took down the first prize of $373,207. Read more here. And Cyprus looks like a fun place to be, according to this VIP party:
Kopp out: Anyone who watched last year’s World Series of Poker main event coverage will remember Billy Kopp, who just missed out on the November Nine in 2009. Gary Wise at ESPN caught up with him in a column here.
HoF: So far, there have been 181 players nominated for the poker hall of fame. We’re guessing they don’t all get in. You can vote at the WSOP website here.
Danny boy: Daniel Negreanu put up a blog post, but he didn’t address the c-word that he called Annie Duke. We’ll look for that next time, we guess?
