The durrrr Challenge goes into hibernation, WCOOP winners from day 1, and Shaun Deeb wins a Sunday major. It’s all in today’s PTP Hit and Run.
durrrr Challenge 2.0 already on hiatus?: The online poker world has high hopes that Tom Dwan vs. jungleman12 in a 50K-hand prop bet wouldn’t be the same cluster that Dwan vs. Antonius is. However, the challenge has already been dormant for a week. It doesn’t seem as likely that this challenge will sit idle for long, but it certainly gets less exciting if there’s not constant action. Story here about the layoff.
WCOOP under way: The World Championship of Online Poker started on Sunday at PokerStars, and three events are in the books. The biggest news of the day was a Team PokerStars pro nearly winning event No. 2. Ville Wahlbeck took second place for about $450K. Read more about yesterday’s WCOOP happenings here. And head over to PokerStars’ website for more info on the WCOOP.
Here are the events for today and tomorrow, with day, time, buy-in, game type and guaranteed prize pool:
4, Sept. 6, 14:00, $300, PL Omaha, $200,000
5, Sept. 6, 17:00, $300, NL Hold’em Shootout [6-Max], $300,000
6, Sept. 6, 20:00, $200, NL Hold’em [Turbo, Rebuys], $600,000
7, Sept. 7, 14:00, $200, PL Draw, $100,000

9, Sept. 7, 20:00, $1,000, NL Hold’em [2-Day], $1,000,000
And PS TV interviewed Kevin ‘BeL0WaB0Ve’ Saul on his thoughts on the WCOOP. Watch below:
Other Sunday majors: The WCOOP events were the biggest happenings on the internet. But that didn’t stop majors from happening on other sites. Read here about the other big tourneys from Sunday, including the Full Tilt $750K won by Shaun Deeb.
The week ahead: Want to stay abreast of what’s going on in the world of poker this week? Day 3 of WSOP coverage on ESPN is on tap, UB is releasing a silly commercial, and what’s coming up in WCOOP. Check out our weekly feature, The Week Ahead in Poker.
Staking live events: Even wonder how some of the live tournament players afford the huge buy-ins? Some of them rely on staking. For instance, Neil Channing talks at the World Poker Tour stop in London about his backing of James Akenhead. Enjoy:
Action Dan: Dan Harrington was one of the top nominees for this year’s class of the Poker Hall of Fame. Will he get in? No one knows, but he certainly has a chance. Gary Wise at ESPN.com wrote a piece about Harrington and his place in the history of poker, and in the modern pokerverse.
WPT event got boosted: Justin “boostedJ” Smith took down the high-roller event at the World Poker Tour stop in London. Because of the small field, though, he “only” won £141,000. He beat Tony G heads up.
