An EPT winner, Isildur boosts his bankroll and losses for Party Poker. Those stories and more in our daily dash through the pokerverse, the PTP HNR for 3/8/10.
A fairly wild weekend, with the dominant story being the robbery at the EPT Berlin at the start of the weekend and the National Heads Up Poker Championship at the end. If you don’t mind a spoiler for the NHUPC, read our coverage of the final match here.
If you’re just finding out about the robbery at EPT Berlin, we suggest Pokerati as a source for all things related. Check out their latest update here.
Here’s a copy of the most widely circulated video capturing bits of the robbery. It’s wobbly and a bit tough to follow, but it’s still pretty bizarre to see the whole thing happening:
If your interest in EPT Berlin is more centered on who played / won the tournament, we suggest reading the text immediately following this colon: Kevin “imalucksac” MacPhee is your 2010 EPT Berlin champ.
Here’s an interview with the champ from PokerStars TV below where he talks a bit about the heads up match (his second live heads up match ever):

Not bad for a day’s work. More weekend winners: Tom Dwan, who racked up $1.1 million and change in wins. That’s including a small loss in the durrrrr Challenge (about 1k) over 4 hands. Zigmund and Isildur were also on the right side of the victory column, managing to add $489k and $390k to their bankrolls respectively.
Slightly worse returns were in the cards for Party Poker, who reported a sharp drop in profit for 2009: a $26.5 million loss compared to a $66.9m gain in 2008.
More losing: Three Fort Wayne, Indiana men who now face criminal charges in connection with a charity gaming operation that officials say was run as a for-profit casino. Details from local news here.
Monday means there’s a new episode of High Stakes Poker floating around. You can find episode 4 on Pokertube, etc; here’s last week’s episode in case you missed it:
Finally, Daniel Negreanu’s got a nifty list of what he considers to be the toughest live tournaments in the world. Find out what stops you should avoid (or seek out, depending) here.
