The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is down to eight players and its final day. And updates from the robbery at the European Poker Tour Berlin. It’s all in today’s edition of the PTP Hit and Run.
The NHUPC is down to the final eight players from the starting field of 64. The tournament is scheduled to play down to a winner today, with the championship at 7 p.m. Pacific:
Dennis Phillips vs. Doyle Brunson
Jerry Yang vs. Annie Duke
Jason Mercier vs. Scotty Nguyen
Peter Eastgate vs. Erik Seidel
Four World Series of Poker main event winners are left (Yang, Eastgate, Brunson, Nguyen), while Eastgate was a member of the original November Nine. We’re not very happy about having to possibly watch this much Jerry Yang on TV. You can read a detailed breakdown of the two rounds of action here. Here’s a video recap from the “Sweet 16″:
The final table of the main event of the European Poker Tour stop in Berlin is set for today, despite the armed robbery at the casino that took place yesterday. Story about the incident, and the poker, here. And here’s a statement from PokerStars, the tournament sponsor/host. Some chip stacks and tables got knocked over during the commotion, but apparently they got it all sorted out.
Here’s an interview with the cameraman who got the robbery on film:
And a pokernews.com report, with interviews with authorities regarding the robbery.
Tom Dwan’s recent swings are pretty big, even for him. Not long after winning a million in 24 hours, he gave back a million at Full Tilt’s tables. Then yesterday he wrapped up a +$900,000 session.
More bad news for Atlantic City. Analysts say revenues will continue to drop in coming years because of the growth of gambling in neighboring states.
That’s a raw deal for AC, but here’s a good deal for you: Sign up with rakeback when you start a new account at Full Tilt Poker.
