The Brunson 10 is up to six. Dwan’s $6 million upswing. And Phil Hellmuth’s media blitz. Read it all in today’s PTP Hit and Run.
The “Brunson 10″ has finally gotten past half of 10. Steve “gboro780″ Gross signed with Doyle’s Room. Gross is the current leader in the pocketfives.com online rankings. The much hyped Brunson 10 has never even gotten close to having 10 sponsored pros, so maybe they’re making a push to fill it out, finally.
Remember when people were wondering if Tom Dwan could survive the massive downswing he suffered at Full Tilt’s tables at the end of 2009, losing millions to Isildur1? No need to feel bad for durrrr any more. He’s up $6 million since December. Read more here.
More on Isildur1 below, specifically Justin “zeejustin” Bonomo talking about the mystery Swede. And the host of this cardplayer.com show finally got rid of those chips in front of him while he hosted the show. We’re not sure if we can take credit for it, but it was a long overdue change.
Phil Ivey has graced the cover of the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado. The mag usually has pretty big stars on the cover, so it’s another sign of Phil Ivey crossing into the mainstream consciousness. Story here, Web site here.
It’s safe to say that the Tournament of Champions idea for the World Series of Poker is pretty popular. Fans have already cast more than 40,000 votes for their favorite bracelet winners of all time for inclusion in a $1 million freeroll at this year’s WSOP. Read more here, vote here.
Need some advice on playing Rush Poker at Full Tilt? Interview with Andy Bloch here, where he talks some strategy.
Phill Hellmuth appeared on ESPN’s “First Take,” video below. The montage of his rants at the start is worth a few seconds. Other than that, you may have to put up with a lot of whining about the beat he took at the final table of a recent World Poker Tour tourney.
And while he was in Briston, Conn., he also appeared on ESPN’s “Inside Deal.”
