Here’s a recap of a fairly slow day at the WSOP, in which just one bracelet was awarded and only four events were going on, total. And here are the stories to watch for, including this Russian banker, Vladimir Schmelev, who came out of nowhere to start owning at the WSOP, and possible live streaming of final tables later in the WSOP. Also new today — the WSOP Tournament of Champions is giving away one seat to one of nine players who has never won a bracelet, including Tom Dwan and Gus Hansen, among others. Read more here. Porn star Samantha Ryan recently signed a sponsorship deal with UB.com. Pokernewsdaily.com got her on the casting couch record in an interview talking about her poker experience.

And peaking of PokerStars, they’ve got a new pro: Ville Wahlbeck. The Finn won a bracelet last year and was close to being the player of the year at the WSOP.

There’s been a lot of talk about the possible legalization and regulation of online poker in the United States, and what it could mean. Bill Rini from Bill’s Poker Blog comes at it from a different angle – mainly, what it could mean for affiliate sites that drive traffic to the online poker rooms. His take — the future could be bleak for affiliates. And while we’re on legal matters, here’s a look at some of the efforts regarding online poker in individual states.
