Online poker in the U.S. gets some good news as H.R. 2267 passes a vote, and Cake Poker addresses its security issues. It’s all in today’s PTP Hit and Run.
H.R. 2267, the bill would legalize and regulate online poker in the United States, passed an important committee vote on Wednesday. The vote broke mostly along party lines, but there was some Republican support. The bill is likely headed to the full House of Representatives for a vote. In any event, it’s a step forward for online poker in the U.S.
There was a recent report from PokerTableRatings.com that there was a security vulnerability at Cake Poker. Well Cake and card room manager Lee Jones were quick to address it, and it’s the process of getting fixed. Apology/admission of error by Jones here. Cap pot-limit Omaha sucks, according to Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond. He wrote about it in his blog, and his distaste for the game at Full Tilt’s high-stakes games. Some of what he wrote: “I think it’s a boring game with few complexities, and those complexities are more about math and running hand scenarios through calculators off the table than they are about psychology, leveling, and adjusting to opponents and game flow. If cap PLO are the only games running, I’ll play, but I hope people start playing something else.”
The latest episode of “Under the Gun” from cardplayer.com is out, watch below. Annie Duke is the featured guest:
The WSOP has been over for a while now, enough time to look back and reflect. Here’s an interview with Nolan Dalla, media director for the WSOP. Dalla looked back on the summer in Vegas, and said this, among other things: “Clearly, the big story of the World Series is the fact that this tournament is recession proof, just the numbers. I don’t think anybody; even the most optimistic of those who work around poker could have foreseen that we were going to grow this much given the challenges of the economy and other issues.”
The Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino in California is set to get under way. Read more here. It culminates in a World Poker Tour event at the end, in August.
