Credit card crackdowns, Negreanu disses Hellmuth and the return of High Stakes Poker. That news and more in our daily trek through the pokerverse, the PTP HNR for 2/08/10.
The big news over the weekend – the crackdown by Mastercard (and now Visa) on online gambling-related transactions continues. Get more info here.
Better news for poker players: High Stakes Poker returns to TV this week on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at 8:00 p.m. EST. Catch HSP regulars Brunson, Benyamine and co along with Andreas Hoivold, Elky and Lex Veldhuis.
Also in the HSP lineup – Hellmuth and Negreanu. Since filming’s long since complete, there’s unlikely to be any specific comments on Daniel’s recent trashing of Phil’s play in the WSOPE Caesar’s Cup, but Daniel will probably have no shortage of snark for the Poker Brat regardless.
Speaking of Negreanu, his native country of Canada took a step into the murky waters of online gambling regulation last week when Quebec announced a deal to operate a State-run online gambling and poker site. Details from PND here.
Jeff Madsen won the Borgata Winter Open Main Event … or did he? Those familiar with Jeff’s more out-there moments will appreciate Wicked Chops’ send up of Madsen’s recent victory.
Not super-new, but here’s the first episode of Full Tilt Poker’s Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge:
Congratulations to palrudo, who made a deal in the Sunday Million, took 1st and won just under a quarter million. Full recap and results here. Speaking of Stars, the inaugural NAPT is set to kick off in just a week or two at the Venetian; full details, including schedules and pre-reg info, at the Venetian NAPT page here.
There’s still time to earn up to $8k on top of your rakeback in the 2010 PTP Rake Challenge. Get the best rates at rooms like Ultimate Bet, Full Tilt Poker and more by signing up with PTP – full details and offers here.
