Isildur1’s heater continues, T-Pain at the NAPT, and more National Heads-Up Championship news. It’s all in today’s PTP Hit and Run.
OK, Isildur1 is really back. He’s been making some cameos at the tables, and had a nice little uptick the other day. But the still-unknown Swede is officially on a heater. Over the last two days he’s up nearly $1.6 million, which is a nice run by anyone’s standards. Story here. The latest victim was Brian Hastings, who famously took more than $4M off of Isildur1 in a session last year. More on this as events warrant.
You know it’s big when T-Pain is involved. He’s going to be the star act at a launch party for the North American Poker Tour event at the Venetian in Las Vegas on Friday. He should definitely sing “I’m on a Boat” while riding in a gondola. Just sayin’.
We reported on some celebs who had committed to this year’s National Heads-Up Championship last week. This week, some pros said they’re in, including WSOP main event champion Joe Cada, runner-up Darvin Moon, Phil Ivey, Huck Seed, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Chris Ferguson. Some more details here, including the schedule of coverage, starting in April.
Phil Hellmuth said he’s trying to be less of a “poker brat,” recently. His bad results at the Party Poker Premier League thingy is apparently putting that to the test.
We’ve been following the effort to legalize intrastate poker in California in the new year, and the state director of the Poker Players Alliance is optimistic of the legislation’s chances. According to the story, Steve Miller, the director in question, said “I think it’s clear after the hearing that, if not for the financial mess the state is in, these hearings wouldn’t even be held. It’s such a mess, and they are trying so hard to close the budget gap, that it seems like something is going to happen for certain.”
If you want a quick update on the current FTOPS at Full Tilt Poker, here’s a rundown of what has happened through the first 10 events of the tournament series.
Interview with Christian “charder30″ Harder here, where he answers some poker questions from e-mailers:
And an interview here with Andreas Hoivoid, who is on this season of High Stakes Poker:
Apparently there is such a thing as the “Nordic Poker Awards.” Who knew? Ville Wahlbeck, who took down the $10K mixed game championship at last year’s World Series of Poker took home two of the “Nordies.” (We just made that nickname up.)
