Who wouldn’t want her on their team?: There’s a new hot free agent in poker — Liv Boeree. The European Poker Tour San Remo winner earlier this year, Boeree has reportedly left UB.com. We’e going to guess there’s a bidding war for a very hot poker-playing woman who is also pretty good at poker, so either she’ll go to Full Tilt or PokerStars, or perhaps a smaller site will back up a dumptruck full of money to get her on board. We’ll keep you updated.
Unabomber accident: Phil Laak apparently got in a pretty bad crash while riding ATVs in Oregon. Pic of Phil in the hospital here, and his Twitter feed here: “Atv accident, massive arm injury and lacerations to eye in oregon. Life is good” We hope you get better soon, Phil.
Rio rumors: Yesterday reports/rumors were coming out that Harrah’s was selling the Rio, home of the World Series of Poker. The WSOP took exception to that, as WSOP communications diector Seth Palansky said it was just that, a rumor. Here’s what he said: “We’ve already been meeting about the 2011 WSOP and are planning on having it at the Rio with the Main Event final table in November at the Penn and Teller Theater.” Stay tuned for more developments.
Cake secure again?: In the on-again, off-again reports of problems with Cake Poker security, PokerTableRatings.com has reported that Cake has once again fixed its encryption problems. It’s still not certain if all the rooms on the Cake network are now secure, but the flagship apparently is.
Party in the U.S.?: Everyone is lining up to get back into the U.S. market, if and when a piece of legislation is passed that legalizes and regulates online poker. Party Poker is coming right out and saying it here. It’s going to be a mad dash to grab the attention of Americans if regulation ever happens. And Google is also positioning itself by buying “Slide,” which develops Facebook apps that involve the exchange of virtual money. Can you say Google Poker?
