Ivey and Seidel owning WPT London, some durrrr Challenge analysis, and online poker players are “drug mules”? It’s all in today’s PTP Hit and Run.
WPT happenings: The World Poker Tour’s London stop is going on, and a couple of big names are near the top of the tournament — Phil Ivey and Erik Seidel. You can follow live updates from the tournament here.
Analyzing the Durrrr Challenge:With the latest durrrr Challenge well under way, and jungleman12 leading Tom Dwan by nearly $700K, this challenge is actually interesting to analyze. First some hand analysis courtesy of the unofficial challenge website here. Some breaking down of challenge numbers here. And below Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond breaks down some play between the two:
More Commerce vs. poker players: For a lengthy but good read on the feud between California casinos and poker players, read this story. The Commerce Casino has been vehement in its opposition to legislation that would legalize and regulate online poker in the United States. Commerce says it is in favor of online poker only being regulated, although the story calls shenanigans on that. Also solid quote from Poker Players Alliance executive director John Pappas: “If I was a professional player endorsed by a site, I’d be very concerned by their comments comparing existing operators to a drug cartel. So what are the players who are sponsored by those sites? Are they drug mules? Hopefully from the response to this letter they will understand that their position is not a popular one among the poker community.”
