More on the Annie-Daniel feud, and poker will be featured tonight on ABC’s Nightline. It’s all in today’s PTP Hit and Run.
So how did this year’s WSOP get so big?: Good question, right? The economy is still messed up, but it was the second-largest World Series off Poker main event ever staged. Story here examines how it might have happened. It goes through theories from online poker players moving their money offline, to a “Darvin Moon” effect.
WPT Justice?: Jonathan “Fiery Justice” Little is one of the final 14 of the World Poker Tour’s Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino in L.A. If you want to follow the tournament as it happens, head over to the WPT website for updates.
Annie vs. Daniel: The ongoing feud between Annie Duke and Daniel Negreanu flared up again this week, as Negreanu used an offensive “c-word” in reference to Duke. Negreanu has since said that the comments that were attributed to him were supposed to be off the record, but it doesn’t seem like an apology is coming any time soon, either. Post over at pokerkingblog.com takes us through the history of the feud, which goes back years. Negreanu addresses the issue a bit in an interview below:
Poker on Nightline: The ABC news show “Nightline” is profiling some young poker players — Joe Cada, the 2009 World Series of Poker main event champ, and Blaine Brount, a 19-year-old who plays online.
Get a story/preview here. The piece appears to be poker friendly. Tune in at 11:35 p.m. to watch the whole thing.
The Ivey effect: When Phil Ivey is in a tournament, everyone knows it. A story here talks about the celebrity of Ivey, and his effect on poker tournaments. Even though Ivey is considered the “Tiger Woods of poker” for obvious reason, there’s quite a bit of hyperbole in the story. He gets compared by the author to some of the most recognizable sports figures ever, who have Q scores in the 90s. Ivey isn’t that famous. But it’s still an interesting read.
Victory to join Cake: The rumors of Victory Poker joining the Cake Poker network have been confirmed by Victory Poker itself. Story here talks about the move, as Victory will leave the Everleaf Network. The official annoucement will come soon, no word on when the switch will happen, yet.
Sunday Million show: PokerStars has the latest edition of its Online Poker Show over at PokerStars.TV. You can watch all the action below:
TWIP: This Week in Poker streams live at 4 p.m. Pacific, 7 p.m. Eastern. Go here to watch live.
