Republicans aren’t pulling punches against online poker. The poker sites snitch on an online payment processor. And Isildur1 live, for real this time? It’s all in Sunday’s edition of the PTP Hit and Run.
Republicans are apparently ready to play hardball in their attempts to stop legislation in Congress that would legalize and regulate online gambling and poker. The Washington Post did a story on a memo being circulated about Jack Abramoff, a former lobbyist now in prison for fraud and tax evasion. Why does the online poker community care? Abramoff was a lobbyist for online poker interests, and received millions of dollars to represent them. Republicans, by circulating a memo through Congress, is attempting to undermine efforts to legalize online gambling and poker by linking the sites to Abramoff. Here’s a follow-up story from pokernewsdaily.com on the memo.
Interesting story following up on Daniel Tzvetkoff, the tycoon who was arrested on money laundering charges stemming from his internet payment processing companies with ties to online poker and gambling sites. Apparently, the online poker sites to which he owed tens of millions dollars, ratted him out to the FBI. Here’s our original story, if you are playing catch up. If the poker sites are the ones turning him, guessing they aren’t too worried about the UIGEA being invoked.
Is Isildur1 actually going to reveal himself this time? After bailing on Party Poker’s Big Game IV cash game, now we’re supposed to believe the mysterious online player everyone already knows is Viktor Blom is going to show his face at the European Poker Tour stop in Monte Carlo. The World Poker Tour $25,000 Championship is under way. Here’s a video report from the Bellagio that includes an interview with Annette Oberstad:
The European Poker Tour stop in San Remo is close to the money bubble after day two. Story here recapping the action, video wrap below. Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier is still among the chip leaders. You can get live updates at PokerStars’ blog.
And here’s a piece with two-time WSOP bracelet winner JP Kelly from San Remo:
Nominations are now being taken for the 2010 class of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. Story here, and you can submit your nominations here.
We have to say, if Evelyn Ng weren’t in her video blogs, we probably wouldn’t watch them. Because they are usually boring. If you are interested in the fact that she’s learning Dutch, or you just want to look at her, have at it:
