PokerStars has announced a number of changes to its frequent player program to coincide with the new year.
The biggest change is the “VIP Stellar Rewards,” where players can earn cash rewards depending on the number of VIP Player Points accumulated. It starts as low as 750 VPPs — players who reach that level of play earn $10. The levels go up to 5,000 VPPs ($50), 50,000 ($100) and 90,000 ($1,000). Once you reach the level, you can purchase the reward for one frequent player point in the PokerStars VIP store. VPPs and FPPs will also be awarded more quickly than in the past. Players will receive VPPs at the rate of 5.5 VPPs (and corresponding FPPs) for each $1.00 in fee paid, or 8 VPPs (and corresponding FPPs) for each €1.00 in fee paid.
Also new: quarterly VIP freerolls replace the old $75,000 weekly freerolls. Supernovas can register for free, while GoldStar and PlatinumStar members can satellite into these freerolls with FPPs.
There have been some tweaks to the VIP levels, as well. The monthly requirement to retain Supernova status is down to just 7,500 VPPs (from from 10,000 VPPs). At the lower levels, SilverStar status is now easier to obtain. You can get SilverStar each money with just 750 VPPs, down from 1,200 FPPs.
Finally, PokerStars is making it easier to play against its top pros in the PokerStars Pro Sit & Go’s. More seats will be reserved for players from the same country as the pro. Players as low as SilverStar can use FPPs to purchase tickets in the FPP store to play with the pros.
