PokerStars’ Negreanu Teaming Up With New TV Network, Poker Central

Daniel Negreanu will be teaming up with the new 24/7 poker network, Poker Central.

Announced as a “partner,” it’s not exactly clear what role Negreanu will play with the new television network, which is yet to launch.

“We are excited to add Daniel to the Poker Central team,” Poker Central CEO Clint Stinchcomb said in a press release. “Daniel is a great ambassador of the game and will help take televised poker to new heights.”

Poker Central also noted that other “partners” like Negreanu will be announced in the coming weeks. It seems fair to assume that Negreanu will be making some-sort of on-air appearances on the network.

Negreanu is one of the best known poker players in the world, and a member of Team PokerStars Pro. He has amassed nearly $30 million in live tournament earnings, along with six World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles.

“I am thrilled to join the Poker Central team,” Negreanu said. “I can’t wait to help make 24/7 Poker a reality.”

Poker Central will be producing this summer’s Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria. The $500,000 buy-in tournament, which will take place in July in Las Vegas, has already attracted more than 50 players. Negreanu was just added to the list entrants for that tournament recently.

Poker Central is working with POKER PROductions, which produces the ESPN broadcast of the World Series of Poker, has also produced NBC’s Poker After Dark, GSN’s High Stakes Poker, and NBC’s National Heads-Up Poker Championship. According to a press release from Poker Central, the SHRB will be “televised on a major television network.” Given the connections to NBC and ESPN, NBCSN or one of the ESPN family of networks seems like a likely landing spot for the tournament.

It’s not clear where you will be able to view Poker Central’s content in the long run. In a press release, Poker Central says it “is expected to air before the end of 2015.” There is no information about the network appearing as a part of any cable or satellite package on its website. According to the site, “Poker Central offers unique all‑day, everyday access to exclusive poker tournaments, celebrity players, tips and tricks from the pros, player profiles and stunning destinations from around the globe.”
