PokerStars has apparently resolved the connectivity issues that resulted in nearly all action at the site being halted for more than an hour.

Problems began cropping up on Thursday, although the issue was apparently not as bad as what surfaced on Friday night/early Saturday (depending on your location). From PokerStars Head of Poker Communications Lee Jones:

You can read more about the connection issues at the forums at twoplustwo.com. Players started reporting connection and lagging issues earlier on Friday, and the problem became worse as the day wore on. The issues prompting this response from a PokerStars representative at 2+2:

We are currently experiencing technical issues. We are working urgently to resolve them. All dealing is paused, Sit & Go tournaments are no longer being created, and upcoming Scheduled Tournaments are cancelled.

Eventually cash games and Zoom Poker went live again on Friday, while tournaments were still paused. More than an hour after PokerStars said it was looking into the problem, Jones tweeted this:

Players understandably were not very pleased with the developments at the world’s largest online poker site. Paused tournaments were not resumed. The 2+2 PokerStars representative referred players to the cancellation policy at PokerStars, noting some events would be “rolled back” as if the tournament never happened, with buy-ins refunded. Other tournaments were “rolled forward,” where remaining players are refunded their entry fee, and all remaining prize money is divided up among the players still in the tournament.

This was the second time in as many months that PokerStars had a major connectivity issue. An “unscheduled server restart” caused issues in early March.
