Overview
Poker Magazine.com offers a typical spread of poker content, including strategy from some well-known authors like Krieger and Carson, player profiles, room reviews, tournament and trip reports, and some other odds and ends. Oh, and there’s some girls in bikinis as well.

Look
I’m not a fan. The site navigation is messy - especially annoying is the fact that the main nav bar disappears when you get to an article. The three column layout used for most of the content feels really crowded and disjointed. It’s an especially annoying layout for articles, since all of the text gets crammed to the far left of the screen. The amount of ads on the site is a bit much for me - again, this gets especially annoying in the articles, where ads are embedded every few paragraphs.

Content Quantity / Quality
The articles: It’s a shame they overrun them with ads, because the articles are high quality. They have good authors tackling useful subjects that haven’t been already beaten to death by the hundreds of turn-key poker content sites. Definite asset. In addition to general strategy pieces, you’ll also find some interviews, essays and other interesting poker-related pieces.

The Reviews: The book reviews are solid. The room reviews are fair, critical and in-depth [heck, I would love to know what Gary Carson thinks of every online room] but are often out-of-date.

Other: They have a couple of developing feed-based features, including a poker blog feed service that aggregates and grabs feeds from poker blogs for you, but the selection of feeds is limited to only a few blogs. This feels like a beta project.

Unique Pros / Cons
Some of the feed options could be handy if they were more completely developed.

Bottom Line
I’d stop by once a month to see what’s new and I’d read it. This feels more like a personal project than a professionally run site, but that doesn’t change the fact that the content, when it’s added, is well-written, original and refreshingly useful.
