Review of Poker Hand .org

Related Articles
Poker Hand.org is a simple site with a basic goal - to allow you to take hand histories and convert them into a more readable format, and then to store that converted hand history on their server, leaving you with a URL that you can send to other who might be interested in the hand. You can also view hands that others have posted and comment on them. It’s a pretty high traffic site, with hundreds of new hands posted every day.
Look
Lovely. Clean and simple, with all of the visual focus placed on the content. The navigational elements are obvious and helpful. More pages should look like this. Ads are minimal and not intrusive.
Content Quantity / Quality
The only real complaint I have about the site is the way converted hands look - it feels clunky and not much shorter than a normal hand history. You also have to click a link at the very bottom of a hand to view comments, which is a minor annoyance. The integrated odds calculator is a great idea - you can compare the hands involved on any street with a simple click.
I wish that there were a few more ways to access particular kinds of hands - a little bit of poking around revealed little in the way of an organizational schema [I couldn’t view the latest No Limit cash game hands, for example] and there’s no way to rate hands [although you can check out the ‘most viewed hands;].
Finally, there’s an option on some hands [Party and Stars] to view the hand in a replayer, which does help to counter the awkwardness of the regular hand history display.
Unique Pros / Cons
I like sites with a simple focus that’s executed well, and that’s what this site is. You do have to set up an account to post hands.
Bottom Line
It’s not the best place to get feedback on your hands, but it’s a good tool otherwise. Add it to the bookmarks.
