Overview
Cards Chat is what the name implies - a place to chat about poker. The bulk of the site is made up of the forums, but there are also some articles, room reviews, a blog, a basic forum arcade and a bit more.
Look
Nice colors and a quick load. A good amount of the interface and structure is designed to lead you to sign up for a poker room, but that’s not unusual. There are very few traditional banner ads on the forum, and the result is an easy-to-read, pleasant to look at page. The reviews and the articles have quite a few ads embedded in the content, which can get annoying, but the forums make up the bulk of what you’re likely to read anyhow.
Content Quantity / Quality
The Forums: Active - several live threads and plenty of responses. The quality of responses on a few random threads was about normal for a mainstream poker forum - people have some idea of how to play, but it’s no 2+2.
The Reviews: The room reviews are short but generally accurate and fair - a nice feature. It’s hard to tell when they were last updated.
The articles: Serviceable. You’re looking at about 20 articles total, and several are overview articles that repeat information you can find elsewhere. There are a few intermediate articles here, but the organization and writing lean toward the clunky and unfocused. It’s worth a read, but not worth going out of your way for.
Other: I like the blog, it’s updated regularly and has a very clean layout. The bonus and arcade sections repeat content available other places, but it’s still nice to have once you’re there.
Unique Pros / Cons
It’s a basic poker community with quality execution.
Bottom Line
A nice site that makes a worthy addition to your bookmark list..
