Scott Clements might be the most under appreciated poker professional in the world. He has had consistent success at the tables since 2005 and his career continues to grow. Scott is widely considered a Holdem specialist, but he has had great showings in Omaha as well. Clements has seven major poker wins world wide, in only five years. You won’t find him on popular television shows often, but I believe he deserves to be a household name. He goes about his business, racks up wins and cashes while going unnoticed. Scott has had great showings and wins at the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour, Canadian Championship Poker Tour and many more. His career goals are simple, too win and win as much as he can. For what its worth Scott Clements although not well known world wide is one of the best tournament players on the planet.

Scott showed up on the poker scene back in 2005 and it didn’t take long for him to make an impact. After two cashes in World Series of Poker circuit events he broke through with his first win in April. He fought back from a short stack and won the Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Poker Tournament and made himself more then $45 000. That was just the beginning for the young Clements, he had all the tools to become a great professional player. In 2006 Scott headed to the World Series looking for a win and after a couple of cashes Clements got what he was looking for. His first bracelet would come in an Omaha Hi/Lo event, a tournament that Phil Hellmuth was at the final table. His first bracelet came with more then $300 000 and it gave him the confidence that would carry him throughout the year. He had solid runs at the Bellagio Cup and again at Lake Tahoe. His next win was in October of 2006 when he traveled north of the border to capture the Canadian Open Championship, a World Poker Tour event. With $250 000 more Clements headed to British Columbia and had yet another solid finish.

With two major victories under his belt, 2007 would prove to be the best year in Scott Clements career. In January he started his year off right with a final table at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and added $151 000 to his bank account. He followed that up with a second place finish at the WPT World Championship and another $160 000. Scott headed into the World Series that year high on confidence and in search of another bracelet. He had a final table in a No Limit Holdem event and followed that up with victory in a Pot Limit Omaha tournament. When all was said and done Scott walked away from the World Series with his second bracelet and about $325 000. Winning multiple bracelets puts you in a different class, with two bracelets Scott Clements was officially a big time player.

Scott followed up his World Series triumph with another World Poker Tour win at the Legends of Poker. In November of 2007 Scott went to a place where he has great success in the past, Canada and that is where he would get the biggest win of his career. Scott entered the $10 000 North American Poker Championship, a World Poker Tour event. He fought his way to the final table and when he got there he saw great players like Barry Greenstein and Jonathon Little. Clements was set to earn the biggest pay day of his career and when he bested Little heads up, he earned himself $1.3 million. The field that year in Niagara Falls, Ontario was deep and full of big named professional players like Allen Cunningham, David Singer and the aforementioned Barry Greenstein. Scott already had two World Series of Poker titles, but a million-dollar win was rare and he now was right at the top of the poker world. Respect is a hard thing to earn and if Clements didn’t already have it he got it in Canada. Since the big win in 2007 Scott hasn’t really climbed to the top of the poker world, but he did capture another WPT title in 2008. He has had many final tables and deep runs over the past couple years at the WPT, WSOP and WSOP circuit events.

Scott Clements started playing poker in 2004 and in that short amount of time he has experienced a lot. With seven wins in total, including two World Series of Poker bracelets, Scott truly has all the skills to be one of the best players on the planet. He has accumulated career earnings of more then $3 million and continues to strive toward greatness. Scott is still in his 20’s and has all the ambition too win and win as much as he can. Scott Clements is one of the most under rated and lesser known true poker players in the world. In this day and age poker players are filmed at every turn and somehow Scott has avoided a lot of that. Whether his name is familiar to you or not, believe me Scott Clements is an excellent Holdem player. This should go to show all poker fans that the community is much bigger then you might think, not everyone gets the exposure of a Mike Matusow or Daniel Negreanu. For my two cents, I think there is a lot more success in the cards for Clements. He is a great player with some great results and only time will tell where Scott Clements lands in the record books.
