For a player who started playing poker four or five years ago and only became pro last year, Phil “USCPhildo” Collins has quickly climbed the ranks of the pocket5s top player leader board among both the PLB score and Pro Poll averages, as well as the “Online Player of the Year” leader board. He is one of the top up and coming young players who is being talked about in the online poker tournament circuit.
Most of Phil’s success has come recently in 2008 including his breakthrough victory in the $1K Monday on Full Tilt Poker for almost $70,000. Phil has also won the Sunday second chance, multiple $109 rebuys, a second in the Wednesday 150K on Poker Stars and is a remarkable three-time winner in the Full Tilt $163 tournament. All of this has given USCPhildo a whopping $450,000 in profits between Full Tilt and Poker Stars. Phil has had only one losing month since turning pro.
Before turning pro, Phil grinded $.25/.50 cash for six months before his first breakthrough MTT win in January 2007 where he took down a $75 tournament on Full Tilt Poker. Phildo is famous for winning the big dollar tournaments with elite players, but he also has taken down some small money donkaments with a large player field, including both the $5 and $10 rebuy on Poker Stars.
Phil attended the University of South Carolina where he studied business. He graduated in May 2007. He started playing poker while attending USC in small-money $5 and $10 games with his friends and quickly fell in love with the game. He began reading every poker book he could find and each individually helped his game become what it is today. Phil puts in about 45 hours per week of poker Sunday-Wednesday. He also hopes to eventually go into investing and business when he is done with poker and hopefully to open up a restaurant. When he’s not playing he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Katie.
